'There's a thin layer of ash on everything outside'

He says although he lives 100km away from Bordeaux, the wildfires are making themselves felt. "The sky had a yellowy tinge and there was a strong smell of smoke," he says. "There’s been a bit of rain since last night so the smell isn’t as bad, but there’s a thin layer of ash on everything outside. "Friends of ours 80km further east from us can even
