China's armed forces has said heavy rain over the weekend could complicate rescue efforts, as "mudslides may occur in some areas". In a post on X, it says rescue efforts have been taking place near Gyirong Port. Gyirong is the largest land border crossing between Tibet and Nepal. The "steep terrain and narrow valleys" have made rescue operations "extremely difficult", the Chinese armed forces' account writes, adding "frequent rain" in the area is forecast
