Chinese state media says 555 tourists evacuated from Tibet

China's Xinhua news agency has just reported that authorities have evacuated 555 stranded tourists from Tibet. Information has trickled out of Tibet since the floods hit earlier this week, largely due to China's tight media controls. We do not know if these figures overlap with data from the Nepal side. The Xinhua report did not specify the nationalities of the evacuees. India, Australia and the US have said that their nationals are among those missing in the disaster.
