People run for cover in Seattle's Space Needle after shooting

We reported earlier that members of the public took shelter inside Seattle's landmark Space Needle, one of the most recognisable structures in the world, rising 605ft (184 metres) above the city. Videos showed people crouched on the ground, taking cover behind pillars and shelves of merchandise in the lobby during the shooting. The tower's roof was recently transformed into a giant football to celebrate Seattle hosting several matches during the 2026 Fifa World Cup.
